OAKLAND — An El Sobrante man pleaded no contest to a lesser charge for a two-year probation term, in a case where he was originally accused of trafficking a 14-year-old girl, court records show.
Immanuel Ramsey, 27, pleaded no contest to dissuading a witness as part of the deal with the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. In exchange, prosecutors dismissed human trafficking and pandering charges against him, court records show.
The case is still pending against Ramsey’s co-defendant, 27-year-old Tenzin Chosjor, of Pinole, who is out of custody and expected to next appear in court for a preliminary hearing in October.
Ramsey was charged in 2020. Police said at the time that a 14-year-old girl was detained after “soliciting” an undercover officer posing as a sex buyer, and that police later identified Ramsey as her trafficker. The following year, the girl told police that Ramsey had trafficked her for several months during 2020, and that she would “give Chosjor $50 for gas money and percentage of her proceeds from prostitution,” for rides to high-prostitution areas in Oakland.
The terms of Ramsey’s sentencing include a 10-year stay away order from the victim, as well as the potential to get his charge reduced to a misdemeanor if he stays out of legal trouble for two years, court records show. Ramsey was formally sentenced in June.
