Estimated first pitch for Tigers-White Sox game is 7:30 p.m.

The start of Tuesday’s White Sox game against the Tigers has been delayed.

First pitch was originally scheduled for 6:40 p.m. Yoendrys Gomez, who the club called up on Tuesday, is scheduled to be the starter. Gomez posted a 2.12 ERA over 14 games (11 starts) at Triple-A Charlotte. Righty Jack Flaherty is scheduled to start for the Tigers.

Manager Will Venable said to expect length out of Gomez as the team tries to stay above water as it navigates its starting pitching woes.

“The big kind of step forward with him was that he was throwing them for strikes,” Venable said of Gomez’s success at Triple A. “The opportunity for improvement for him when we got him and he’s done a nice job of going to work and being competitive in the zone with all his pitches.”

The Sox’ offense mustered only four hits Monday.
