It is vital that you know what to look for when checking your passport is flight-ready.

There are a number of problems that catch Brits out each year and ruin plans.

For some unfortunate holidaymakers, that means they get turned away at the plane.

There are tight rules about the criteria passports must meet.

First of all, they must be within the expiry date.

For international travel, there must also be at least three months left on the passport from the date you intend to return home.

Also, since the UK left the EU, most European destinations demand that British passports must not be more than 10 years old.

Even if you have plenty of time left before the expiry date, you should check that yours doesn’t break this rule.

People with the old burgundy passports in particular are urged to have a look before they travel.

Given that Brits are busy planning their summer getaways, this puzzle offers some timely practice.

Scan all of the documents in the picture and see if you can spot the one that would cause an issue.

If you’re struggling to figure it out, here’s a clue.

The damaged passport could not be British-issued, because it is the wrong colour.

And remember, British passports were burgundy until 2020, when they became navy-blue.

If you still can’t spot the troublesome doc, head on down for the solution.
