A former PE teacher has admitted sexual communication with a teenage girl.

Bronwen James, 29, previously taught at Hardenhuish School in Chippenham and Bitterne Park School in Southampton.

She appeared at Salisbury crown court today where she pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in sexual communication with a child.

But she has denied 11 other offences, which allegedly took place during a three-year period.

James denies six charges of sexual activity with two girls; four charges of sexual activity with a boy; and one charge of engaging in sexual communication with a child.

A 13th charge – of making a Category C indecent image of a child – was not put before the court.

James, from Chippenham in Wiltshire, will go on trial at Winchester crown court on April 27 next year.

Judge Christopher Parker KC released her on conditional bail until her trial, which is expected to last 10 days, begins.

As part of her bail conditions she is not allowed to contact the three complainants in the case either directly or indirectly, or have any unsupervised contact with any child under the age of 16.

James, wearing a cream two-piece outfit, spoke only to confirm her name, date of birth and enter her pleas during the court hearing.
