FAA announces end of flight reductions at airports including O’Hare and Midway

The Federal Aviation Administration announced the end of a flight reduction emergency order that impacted airports across the country including at O’Hare and Midway.

Earlier this month, the FAA issued an order reducing flights by up to 6% due to safety concerns caused by staffing shortages during the government shutdown.

“Today’s decision to rescind the order reflects the steady decline in staffing concerns across the NAS and allows us to return to normal operations,” FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said Sunday. “I am grateful for the hard work of the FAA safety and operations teams and for their focus on the safety of the traveling public.”

Earlier this month, O’Hare International Airport led the country with the most flight cancellations of any U.S. airport.
