So far, police have said the suspect is a man of ‘college age’, who arrived on campus before noon.

He fired from a rooftop, possibly with a high-powered bolt-action rifle that was found later in a wooded area.

Whoever fired the gun managed to slip away – moving through stairwells unnoticed – amid the chaos as students fled the scene.

Callers to 911 said they saw someone wearing ‘jeans, black shirt, black mask’ and carrying a ‘long rifle’.

Announcing the reward, the FBI said: ‘The FBI is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the individual(s) responsible for the murder of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.’

The FBI stressed that the ‘person of interest’ is not a suspect and the hunt continues.

So far, officials have received more than 130 tips, as of the early hours of this morning.

Robert Bohls, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Salt Lake City field office, said: ‘I assure you that all leads and tips are being fully investigated.’

Authorities also have a ‘good video’ of the gunman, but are refraining from releasing it for the time being.

This comes after a 77-year-old retired banker living in Toronto was falsely identifies as Kirk’s killer on social media.

A photo of Michael Mallinson started circulating online – simply because he looked a little like a man who was detained and then released by police after the deadly attack.

Kirk – an influential figure in the MAGA Republican movement – was killed with a single bullet to his neck while he was giving a talk at the university.

As a close ally of Donald Trump, the 31-year-old is credited with helping to build the Republican Party’s support among younger voters.

Kirk can be seen reaching up with his right hand as blood gushes from the left side of his neck. It was only an hour later that he was pronounced dead.
