A wildfire that broke out in Mendenhall Springs on Saturday about 9 miles southeast of Livermore was about half contained as of Sunday afternoon, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
Cal Fire reported that the wildfire near mile marker 17 on Mines Road that was reported at 10 acres on Saturday was “after better mapping 5 acres” and “50% contained” Sunday afternoon.
No injuries or property damage have been reported from the Mines Fire so far. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. From 8 fire engines, only one is left to put out the rest of the blaze, according to Cal Fire’s latest status updated.

The site of the Mines Fire is only a couple of miles away from the Corral Fire, which burned more than 14,000 acres in 24 hours at the beginning of June and took several days to put out.
