A young woman has been found dead, her body hidden on a boat in a quiet Welsh town.

The victim has been named locally as Corinna Rose with an investigation leading to a murder arrest.

Neighbours say the 21-year-old woman had left her home in Cardigan, on the Welsh coast on Thursday to enjoy a night out but never returned home.

Her body was discovered on a dry-docked boat in Netpool Boat Yard, Cardigan at 12.35pm yesterday.

A witness said a boat was covered in black tarpaulin to be taken away by police for examination.

There are a series of former fishermen’s cottages around the boatyard site which closed more than 20 years ago. Some of the boats in the yard are occupied.

Detectives say an unamed man, 29, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in custody. Her sister Caitlyn said: "Heaven has the most beautiful, funny, stubborn angel entering the gates." Police are appealing for help from anyone around the area of the Netpool Boat Yard from Thursday night who may have seen anything suspicious. Locals say fun-loving Corinna went out on Thursday with friends but never returned home. A witness said a boat was covered in black tarpaulin to be taken away by police for examination. Shocked locals were stunned at the tragedy because her family are well-known in the close knit town for running a local pub for years. One woman living nearby said: "She was such a sweet girl, she really was. Our thoughts are with her family." Another said: "That poor family will be in bits. She was a sweetheart and lovely - so young." A Dyfed Powys police spokesperson said: "There continues to be an increased Police presence in Cardigan, following the discovery of a body of a woman in Netpool Boat Yard, Cardigan at approx. 12.35pm yesterday afternoon (Saturday, November 15). "One man, aged 29 has been arrested on suspicion of murder. "The woman?s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. "Police continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and are particularly interested in speaking with anybody who may have been at the location, or may have seen anyone at the location, from around 9pm on Thursday 13, November. "Anyone with any information that could assist us with our investigation are asked to get in touch." Locals in the West Wales coastal town reported a hive of police activity around the boat yard site. One said: "There were police cars everywhere - it is obviously very serious and not what you expect in such a quiet place." Officers cordoned off the Netpool slipway and nearby access roads. Corinna’s heartbroken family described their ‘fun-loving’ sister as their ‘dearest angel’.

‘Heaven has the most beautiful, funny and stubborn angel entering the gates. Please respect mine and my family’s privacy during this time,’ her sister Caitlyn wrote.

Her sister Shante added: ‘Fly high gorgeous. I wish I told you more how much you meant to me and that I loved you. I will always love you and think of you.’
