Heavy rain is expected to expected to cause flash flooding across sections of Boulder and Weld counties on Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters issued a flash flood warning for Lafayette and Erie at 6:41 p.m. after weather radars showed thunderstorms had dropped an inch or more of rain and are expected to drop up to another inch.
“Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly,” forecasters said.
There may be flooding in small creeks, streams, gulches, road and in low-lying areas or places with poor drainage.
People affected by flooding should move to higher ground immediately and should not drive on flooded roads.
The flash flood warning lasts until 9:45 p.m., forecasters said.
This is a developing story and may be updated.
