Former Bay Area caregiver admits to raping client 88-year-old client

A caregiver accused of sexually assaulting an 88-year-old client in Kentfield has pleaded guilty.

Yuimi Zingkhai, 24, of Rohnert Park had been charged with 14 crimes that included attempted murder, burglary, false imprisonment, committing a lewd act upon a dependent person and damaging a wireless communication device.

On Tuesday, he admitted to rape, intimidating a witness, committing assault likely to cause great bodily injury and causing corporal injury.

Judge Kevin Murphy set the sentencing for Aug. 19. Zingkhai could face up to 21 years in state prison and lifetime registration as a sex offender, according to court documents.

The crimes happened at the victim’s residence on July 14, 2024, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office. Zingkhai was hired to assist a woman with memory problems.

Her daughter visited them and saw the defendant sexually assaulting her, the sheriff’s office said. Zingkhai allegedly attacked the daughter by choking her until she fell unconscious, then threatened her with a knife after she woke up.

The daughter was held captive for two hours before she convinced the defendant to release her, the sheriff’s office said. The daughter left and called 911.

Zingkhai initially went home, then came back to the Kentfield residence and was arrested after trying to flee from deputies.

Zingkhai remains in custody at the Marin County Jail, where he has been held without bail since his arrest.

His public defender, Dominik Taylor, declined to comment after the hearing Tuesday. Prosecutor Sun Seo could not be reached for comment.
