Now helping the Packers: a familiar face for Bears fans.
Luke Getsy, the Bears’ offensive coordinator from 2022 to ’23, was spotted at Packers practice Friday.
Coach Matt LaFleur later told reporters that Getsy had been working with the team remotely for a few weeks but came to Green Bay for the first time this week. He’s helping advise the team’s defense, the way that former Jets coach Robert Saleh, a defensive expert, is helping prepare the offense.
Getsy had worked on the Packers’ staff from 2014 to ’17 and 2019 to ’21 before being hired by the Bears.
Getsy was fired after two seasons with the Bears and was named the Raiders’ offensive coordinator in January but became the first play-caller fired in the NFL this season.
Nine days after Getsy was fired on Nov. 3, then-coach Matt Eberflus fired the man he hired to replace him: Shane Waldron.
The Bears play at Lambeau Field on Sunday.
