CONCORD — Four juveniles were arrested on suspicion of theft Monday night in what police said was the second high-value store invasion by a group of under-18 boys at the Sunvalley Shopping Center this month.
The arrests came after police were called to the mall about 5:50 p.m.
According to Lt. Robert Garcia, the officers came upon all four trying to exit in different directions. The suspects didn’t get far. All of them were taken to Juvenile Hall in Contra Costa County on suspicion of theft, Garcia said.
Police recovered all of the stolen merchandise, which had a combined value of $3,400. Pleasant Hill police officers also helped with the incident.
Garcia said detectives are working to determine whether the four who were arrested were in anyway tied to a smash-and-grab burglary at the same mall on Oct. 5. Seven people were arrested in that burglary. Six of them were under 18.
Other high-value thefts also have occurred at the mall over the past two weeks, police said.
