Firefighters responded to the fire in the 600 block of Lupine Street just before 1 p.m. Monday, said Battalion Chief Rick Vander Velde.

The single-story house fire was difficult to manage because of hoarding conditions, Vander Velde said.

Four dogs in the home died from smoke, and one person was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Firefighters are still investigating what caused the fire, Vander Velde said.
