Four wounded in Oakland shootings

OAKLAND — Four men were wounded in a series of shootings between Sunday afternoon and early Monday in different areas of the city, authorities said.

All of the victims were in stable condition.

Police said the shootings do not appear to be related.

About 3:44 a.m. Monday a 39-year-old man was shot in the 1500 block of 11th avenue in East Oakland. The shooting activated a gunshot detection alert system.

The man told police he was riding a bicycle  on 11th avenue when a vehicle pulled up and an occupant got out and shot him.  The shooter then fled on foot and the remaining occupants of the vehicle drove away.

A motive for the shooting is under investigation.  No arrests have been made.

About 12:09 a.m. Monday a 21-year-old man was shot in the foot in the 700 block of Market Street in West Oakland.  That shooting also activated a gunshot detection system alert.

The man was able to get his own transportation to a hospital.  A motive for the shooting is under investigation and no arrests have been made.

About 12:08 a.m. Monday a 38-year-old man was shot in the area of Bancroft Avenue and Foothill Boulevard in East Oakland.

Officers responding  to a gunshot detection system alert found the man with a shoulder wound and he was transported to a hospital.

Police said the man was uncooperative and that they are trying to figure out why the man was shot and who shot him.

The Sunday shooting happened about 1:22 p.m. and left the 47-year-old man who was shot also under arrest, authorities said.

Authorities said the initial reports were that the man had been driving on 23rd Avenue near International Boulevard in East Oakland when he got into a shootout with an occupant of another vehicle.

The 47-year-old man was wounded in the hand and was able to drive to the 1700 block of East 12th Street where police found him, authorities said.

The man had a gun in his possession and was placed under arrest at the hospital he was taken to, authorities said.

Descriptions of the other shooter and the vehicle they were in have not been released.
