Sir Keir Starmer’s EU pointman Nick Thomas-Symonds has been negotiating with Brussels in the hope of securing a “reset” in relations.
But Britain’s former chief negotiator Lord Frost last night warned it amounted to a Brexit betrayal.
The Tory peer told The Sun: “It’s increasingly obvious that Labour are going to sell out the country once again.
“This move means that our farmers and food producers will have to live by laws they have no say in, enforced by a foreign court – the absolute opposite of what Brexit means.
“We would be giving up control over a significant part of our economy and getting nothing back for it.
“You simply can’t trust Labour to negotiate.”
The government has ruled out a return to free movement, the customs union or single market, but said a “closer relationship” was in Britain’s interest.
A spokesman said: “We will not provide a running commentary on talks”.
