The Galaxy made three of their four selections in Friday’s MLS SuperDraft, traded one for General Allocation Money and picked one player from LAFC’s second team.
Just a normal day in MLS.
With the 20th pick in the first round, the Galaxy picked Michigan midfielder/defender Jason Bucknor. The 22-year-old made 19 appearances last season, scoring six goals. In four seasons, he played in 59 games, with nine goals and five assists.
The Galaxy sent their second pick in the first round (No. 30) to Real Salt Lake for $50,000 in GAM. Thursday, MLS announced the amount of GAM that each team had heading into the offseason. The Galaxy were near the bottom with $2,416,000.
With the 60th pick, the Galaxy selected forward Jacob Woznicki from Hofstra University in the second round. Woznicki played three seasons at Stonehill University, where he scored 19 goals. In one season at Hofstra, he scored nine goals and added five assists.
The Galaxy closed the draft selecting forward Nicklaus Sullivan with the final pick of the third round (No. 90). Sullivan spent last season with LAFC II, for whom he scored four goals in MLS Next Pro. Sullivan, who attended Cal State San Bernardino, left after his junior season, signing with LAFC II in July. He scored nine goals with CSUSB and 15 as a freshman at Park University in Arizona.
