A girl was seriously injured on Boxing Day after a quad bike she was riding crashed into a telegraph pole.

She was a passenger on the quad bike which crashed outside the Old Tree Inn pub on Kippax High Street, Leeds just after 10.30pm last night.

The seven-year-old was taken to hospital and is continuing to receive treatment for injuries that are serious and life changing but are not considered life-threatening, West Yorkshire Police said.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested this morning on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving in relation to the incident.

A man and a woman, both aged in their thirties, have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and remain in custody.

There are still crime scenes cordoned off on both the High Street and nearby Church Lane while police keep investigating.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or the quad bike bring ridden in the Kippax area to get in touch – especially anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage.
