Girl, 8, injured during apparent road rage shooting in Douglas

An 8-year-old girl was hospitalized after being shot in Douglas Tuesday night, police said.

The girl was in a car with her family in the 3000 block of South State Street around 9:50 p.m. when her family members got in an argument with someone in a white SUV, according to Chicago police. A man in the SUV threatened to fire then shot twice at the vehicle, striking the girl in the thigh.

She was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she was listed in fair condition.

The suspect fled the scene and there is no one in custody. Detectives are investigating.
