Google platforms, Spotify and YouTube were down for tens of thousands of users worldwide.
There were 13,000 reports of issues with Google Cloud and 27,000 reports for Spotify just before 11.30am PT on Thursday, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages of online services.
‘We are experiencing service issues with multiple GCP products,’ stated a Google Cloud status page.
‘Our engineering team continues to investigate the issue.’

The page showed that the issues started at 10.51am PT.
At the same time, there were 559 reports of issues with YouTube, Downdetector showed.
Google Cloud’s status page showed that there were issues with 13 of its services in the Americas, Europe, Asia the Middle East and Africa.
Several other web-based services also seemed to have disruptions.
Discord had more than 11,000 reports, Amazon Web Services had almost 5,000, and Snapchat had more than 3,500.
The platforms all suffered a sudden and sharp rise in issues reported after functioning normally for a lengthy period of time.
Users had login issues, crashes in service, unavailable service and problems connecting with the servers.
The cause of the outages was not immediately known.
Google stated that customers were ‘still experiencing varying degrees of impact’ and that engineers did not have an exact estimated time to fix the problems.
Around 3.15pm PT, the company announced that most Google Cloud products had been recovered.
‘The issue with Google Chat, Google Meet, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Cloud Search, Google Tasks, Google Voice has been resolved for all affected users,’ Google said.
‘We will publish an analysis of this incident once we have completed our internal investigation.’
Spotify had a high of 46,000 outage reports and that number was down to just over 1,000 reports around 3.15pm PT. Meanwhile, Discord had a peak of 10,992 reports and around 200.
