Graduation for John F. Kennedy High seniors in Granada Hills was loud and proud
Last year John F. Kennedy High School in Granada Hills held its graduation at the Santa Anita racetrack because of a massive renovation project at their campus. This year they celebrated loud and proud at their own campus where more than 500 members of the class of 2024 graduated.
It’s been a terrific year for this class, with efforts by a state legislator and the LAUSD school board to help fund the school’s $270 million comprehensive modernization project, including $2 million to improve the seismic safety of buildings and demolishing and to remove several other buildings.
And on graduation night on Tuesday June 11, with a late spring sun still up in the sky, the students cheered, cried and laughed as they accepted their much-deserved diplomas. The bleachers were filled with siblings and parents, and they too were cheering, laughing and even crying. Joining them was the school’s mascot, the Golden Lion, this year appearing in the form of a gigantic inflatable tunnel that graduates walked through.
