Music @themall
In the tradition of Tiffany, the ’80s pop star who broke out with a string of performances at shopping malls, the Great Mall in Milpitas is hosting “Music @themall: Scouting for Stars” on Saturday, Aug. 2.
The event features a lineup of emerging artists who will perform every 15 minutes. Gen Zers can register for meet and greets with signed artists and music executives who, according to a release, “will share what it takes to make it in the music business.”
The stop at the Great Mall is part of a nationwide tour put on by Simon, owner/operator of various U.S. retail real estate properties, and Greater Than Distribution, a music entertainment company led by Grammy-winning producer and former “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson and A&R exec Paula Moore.
“Music @themall” runs noon-7 p.m. at the Great Mall, 447 Great Mall Drive, Milpitas. Attendees can RSVP to https://scoutingforstarsthemallatgm.splashthat.com or register at the event and receive a tote bag, T-shirt and special deals from Great Mall stores.
Neighborhood Clean-Up
Milpitas’s third Neighborhood Clean-Up of the year is happening on Saturday, Aug. 9, when Milpitas residents can dispose of unwanted items for free with a required reservation, valid photo ID and proof of residency.
Each household may participate in one event per year and is limited to one pick-up truckload (no more than 3 cubic yards of material). Participants must unload their own vehicles. City staff will be on site to help direct traffic and guide vehicles to appropriate debris containers.
Appointments are required to milpitas.info/4lFPMSB. For questions, email MilpitasRecycles@milpitas.gov.
