Greeley police say an officer “accidentally discharged his firearm” while taking a suspect into custody in west Greeley on Monday.
Both the officer and the suspect sustained minor injuries from debris, according to a Greeley Police Department Facebook post.
The department was conducting an investigation in the 2000 block of Talon Parkway when the officer discharged his firearm, the post states.
“This matter is currently under active investigation,” the department wrote in the post. “We take this matter very seriously, and a thorough review will be conducted to address any issues identified to avoid incidents like this in the future.”
