Gunfire penetrated a Far South Side home, fatally injuring a woman inside early Tuesday in the Washington Heights neighborhood.
About 4:30 a.m., the woman, 37, was in the 10100 block of South Aberdeen Street when someone opened fire from outside and the bullet went through the home and hit her in the chest, Chicago police said.
The unidentified woman was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where she was pronounced dead, police said.
Area Four detectives are investigating and were speaking to a person of interest Tuesday morning.
