A Memorial Day weekend boat party turned into the scene of a mass shooting with at least 11 people hospitalized.
The private boat was near a dock in Little River, South Carolina, when a fight broke out around 9.30pm on Sunday.
Fire department responders transported 11 people to nearby hospitals, and more victims were reportedly taken by personal vehicles to medical facilities, stated the Horry County Police Department on Facebook less than an hour later.
At 11pm, the police department wrote that ‘this is believed to be an isolated incident’ and that ‘there is no risk to the community at this time’.

In an update on Monday, the police department said that 10 people were shot and another suffered an injury that was not gunfire-related. The victims in the worst condition are critical but stable, and no one has died.
‘Thus far, the investigation indicates that the shooting was an isolated event that resulted from an altercation during a private Memorial Day weekend gathering on a charter boat,’ wrote the department.
Investigators are still working to identify a suspect or suspects, and the cause of the brawl.
An online flyer for the event said that it was a three-hour cruise with a DJ and that it ended at 9pm. A representative with the company that owns the charter boat declined to comment.

Little River is a fishing village that offers a casino boat and dolphin cruises. It is about 20 miles northeast of Myrtle Beach.
The shooting happened nearly two years after a massive fight broke out between a pontoon boat group and a worker for a dinner cruise, over a parking spot in Montgomery, Alabama. A viral video showed roughly 20 people throwing punches on a dock close to Riverfront Park. The pontoon boat brawlers turned themselves in days later.
