Hot May day leads to strong inaugural regional bass fishing around Chicago

Lily pads and hard bottoms did it for Brother Rice Boat 1 Thursday in the Wolf Lake regional. Tom Hall and Joe Bowen won with five largemouth bass weighing 9.28 pounds.

“Buzzbaits right in the lily pads, lily pad stems and hard bottoms,” coach Jim Hall said.

The launch was crowded before takeoff Thursday at the Wolf Lake regional.
