Last month, Maxim Cover Girl crowned Taylin Muth as the winner of the inaugural Shades of Grey competition—and the response was electric. With rave reviews from contestants, the competition is back and bigger than ever. The cash prize has doubled to $20,000, a $5,000 donation to the charity of your choice is now included, and a trip for two to Tokyo has been added. The winner will also be featured in Maxim and jet off on a once-in-a-lifetime Tokyo experience, where they’ll create stunning content for Maxim’s social and digital platforms.
Take cues from Harajuku icons and Shibuya street style—this competition is all about mood and mystery. Stripped down to black and white, the theme blurs the line between power and temptation, daring contestants to reveal their most dramatic edge. Think emotional lighting, sleek silhouettes, and unapologetic attitude.
Registration is free and easy. Upload your best shots, share your profile, and rally your fans to start stacking votes. The competition begins with a public voting group phase—survive to the end and you’ll advance to the elimination rounds. Power through the semifinals and final public voting round to earn an interview with our judging panel. From there, the judges will select the top 3 models to fly to Miami for an in-person photoshoot. It’s your chance to meet the team, showcase your skills, and make your mark. After reviewing the shoot, the judges will crown one grand prize winner, who will take home $20,000, trips for two to NYC and Tokyo, and a feature in Maxim.
