The Golden State Warriors return home to the Chase Center Friday with a 3-2 series lead against the Houston Rockets and a chance to advance to the Western Conference semifinals. Tipoff is at 6 p.m. PT.
The Warriors should be better rested than one might expect after playing Game 5 in Houston on Wednesday, as coach Steve Kerr pulled his starters early in a 131-116 loss that saw Golden State trail by as many as 31 points.
The scenario is similar to one they faced against the Grizzlies in 2022, when they lost in a blowout Game 5 in Memphis, then won Game 6 at home.
One major talking point after Wednesday’s loss was Steph Curry’s thumb injury, which he has been nursing for months now. Kerr accused the Rockets of intentionally swatting Curry’s thumb, and Houston forward Dillon Brooks did not deny the allegation. League rules allow defenders to make contact with a shooting player’s hand after he shoots the ball.
If the Warriors win, they’ll move on to face Minnesota in the second round. If they lose, they’ll play Game 7 back in Houston on Sunday.
