A fire is tearing through a historic Georgian mansion in a leafy north London neighbourhood.
More than 70 firefighters have been battling a fire at Hollybush House on Hadley Green Road, Barnet, for hours.
The Grade II-listed mansion, which is undergoing a refurbishment, is at risk of burning to the ground after the fire broke out shortly after 1am this morning.
The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
There have been no reports of injuries, the London Fire Brigade said.
Shocking images from the scene show flames raging inside the Millionaires’ Row property, which is clad in scaffolding, with construction material and a skip seen outside.
London Fire Brigade said: ‘The whole of the roof, as well as the first and ground floors of a detached house under refurbishment are alight. There are currently no reports of any injuries.
One of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders is being used at the scene as a water tower, to tackle the fire from above.’
Hollybush House was built in the late 18th century.
The six-bedroom house is surrounded by 2.23-acre gardens, and it boasts three terraces, a pond and a swimming pool.
The mansion sold for £4.5 million in 2020.
Other houses on Hadley Green Road have exchanged hands for eyewatering amounts.
On average, homes on the affluent area sold for £1.75 million last year – compared to the UK average house price of around £297,000.
