Human remains have been found in an abandoned caravan near a Tesco store.

The grim discovery was made in a wooded area off Riverside Avenue in Bournemouth at around 8.40am this morning.

Dorset Police have since taped off the area have launched an urgent investigation to identify the deceased person.

A local who visits the nearby supermarket told the Bournemouth Echo that he spotted an abandoned caravan two to three weeks ago.

He said at midday today there were police cars and forensic vans around the abandoned vehicle.

A police spokesperson said they believe the horror event was non-recent.

A spokesperson said: ‘Dorset Police received a report at 8.41am on Saturday, April 26, that human remains had been found in a wooded area off Riverside Avenue in Bournemouth.

‘Officers are currently on scene and a cordon has been put in place.

‘A full investigation is underway to establish the identity of the person and the full circumstances of the death, which appears to be non-recent.’
