Humane Society hosts Yappy Hour for prospective foster parents

Yappy Hour set

Humane Society Silicon Valley is hosting a Yappy Hour on July 12 for new foster parents looking to be matched up with their perfect puppy.

Yappy Hours are open to those who have registered to foster a dog at https://www.hssv.org/volunteer/foster-an-animal/#fosterdogpuppy.

Yappy Hours happen on site at the Milpitas facility, where foster families will learn about the ways they can support dogs in need through demos and hands-on training. They will meet the Humane Society’s foster team, volunteer mentors and a variety of four-legged foster candidates. Foster parents can take home a dog or puppies that same day.

The Humane Society has other ways of supporting those who register to foster a canine.

After completing onboarding, foster parents can request to schedule a 30-minute Pup Talk with a volunteer mentor. These mentors are experienced foster volunteers who share tips and answer questions about fostering.

SMART riders wanted

Milpitas started the month counting down—or up—to the 100,000th rider of the city’s SMART shuttle service.

The lucky rider was set to receive a special prize package as a thank-you for supporting local transit. Prizes include a limited edition hoodie, a Milpitas SMART tumbler and 100 free rides.

SMART offers rides to key destinations across Milpitas. To start riding, download the app at milpitas.gov/smart.
