Kitten season
Due to the fire at its Detkin/Oates Animal Community Center earlier this year, shelter capacity at Humane Society Silicon Valley is significantly limited. There is currently no available kennel space for kittens, and as of May 8, the Humane Society will be unable to take in additional kittens unless a foster home is available.
In general, the Humane Society cautions that kittens often appear abandoned when the mother is actually nearby, out searching for food or hiding from people, and advises those who find kittens to take note of the exact time and location and return in eight to 12 hours to check back.
If the kittens are still there, they may be orphaned and in need of care. Call us at 408-262-2133, ext. 110 or email Intake@hssv.org to discuss ways to help.
