More than 300 flights headed in and out of Denver International Airport on Monday failed to leave the gate on time as the busy holiday travel season continued nationwide.
As of 1:40 p.m. Monday, 310 flights had been delayed and 10 had been canceled, according to flight tracking software FlightAware. No federal ground stops or ground delays were in effect at that time, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Roughly half of the delayed flights were scheduled to leave DIA, and half were headed into the city, according to FlightAware.
Nearly 900 flights were delayed at DIA the day before — which was expected to be one of Denver’s busiest travel days of the season, according to airport officials — after 2.2 inches of snow fell at the Denver airport.
Southwest delayed 132 flights in and out of Denver on Monday, followed by 78 from SkyWest, 53 from United, 13 from Frontier, 11 from American Airlines and 10 from Delta, according to FlightAware. Six other airlines delayed between one and five flights.
Frontier canceled the most flights at DIA on Monday, removing four from its roster, and Southwest canceled three. United, SkyWest and Delta each canceled one flight.
