LAFAYETTE
The Diablo Women’s Chorale (DWC) this fall will present “Over the River and Into the Woods,” a joyful and nostalgic musical experience celebrating the wonders of nature, devotion and true love.
Director Erin Fishler brings passion to each piece, drawing from her extensive experience, including performing backing vocals on the Grammy-nominated album “With Love” by arranger Jeremy Fox. Accompanist Rebecca Hass contributes her talent and experience as an accomplished recording artist, pianist, teacher and composer.
Established in 1942, the chorale has been an East Bay musical legacy for 83 years. DWC thrives today as a secular choir that continues to attract women of all ages who share a desire to spread joy through music.
The DWC’s fall performances will take place at 7 p.m. Nov. 21 and 3 p.m. Nov. 23 in the Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church at 49 Knox Drive in Lafayette. UC Berkeley official to address garden club Oct. 13
The Walnut Creek Garden Club (WCGC) will hold its free monthly meeting on Oct. 13 at Walnut Creek’s Elks Lodge.
Registration begins at 9:15 a.m., followed by a brief meeting, a break at 10:15 a.m. with complimentary tea, coffee and snacks, all followed then by an educational program featuring UC Berkeley Botanical Garden Director Dr. Lewis Feldman.
Dr. Feldman will talk about the many attractions in UC Berkeley’s property, which is unique in the world of botanical gardens, as most of its plants are wild-collected, making the collection useful for researchers, especially in this time of climate change.
The Elks Lodge is at 1475 Creekside Drive in Walnut Creek. Garden lub members welcome the public to visit their meeting and become members themselves. One need to be a gardener to join the WCGC. For more information, visit walnutcreekgardenclub.org online.
