What’s at stake? As the Colts look to continue their undefeated start to the season, the Rams will try to get back on the right track after their stunning loss to the Eagles in Week 3. And with a Thursday game looming against the San Francisco 49ers, the Rams will look to win the first of two games in five days.
Who’s better? Coming into the season, the easy answer would have been the Rams. The way the Colts have played through three games, though, and the answer is a little tighter. Ultimately though, the Rams’ depth on defense is not matched by the Colts’ D, which should struggle to contain running back Kyren Williams and the receiving duo of Davante Adams and Puka Nacua.
Matchup to watch: Rams WR Davante Adams vs. Colts CB Charvarius Ward. Ward is an elite man corner who is limiting opposing quarterbacks to a 74.8 passer rating when targeting his receiver this season. Adams is one of the best against man coverage in NFL history. These two will duel Sunday and should provide an entertaining battle within the battle.
Rams win if: Nacua takes advantage of the attention paid to Adams and puts together another 100-yard performance. … The Rams get out to an early lead and force the Colts to pass the ball rather than rely on Taylor to move the offense down the field. … The Rams sack Jones – who has taken only two sacks this season – three times.
Fantasy sleeper: Rams WR Jordan Whittington. If Adams is limited at all, it could open up some opportunities for Whittington or even Tutu Atwell to get some touches against the Colts.
Prediction: Rams 27, Colts 24. Beat reporter’s record: 3-0 on the season; 2-1 against the spread.
