A Jet2 spokesperson said: “Flight LS881 diverted to Barcelona so that police could offload some disruptive passengers.
“The aircraft continued to its destination after a delay.
“As a family-friendly airline, we take a zero-tolerance approach to disruptive behaviour.”
It is understood that the flight reached Manchester airport some three hours after it was scheduled to land.
The Sun has reached out to Jet2 for comment.
It comes after another Jet2 plane was forced to make an emergency landing after a holidaymaker died onboard.
The aircraft, flying from Tenerife to the UK, was forced to divert to the Spanish mainland on Friday evening after a passenger suffered a fatal medical emergency.
The crew of flight LS676 alerted air traffic control that a man on board was suffering a severe medical emergency and needed urgent attention.
The plane was forced to land at Santiago-Rosalía de Castro Airport to get the man into the care of the emergency services.
Despite immediate treatment on hand, the man was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival on the runway.
