A juvenile and 19-year-old Aurora man were arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder in a Morris Heights shooting that killed a Wheat Ridge man and injured a Denver teen, police said Friday.
Yoel Uriel Romero was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder and aggravated robbery for the May 21 shooting in the 3100 block of Ursula Street, according to the Aurora Police Department. A 17-year-old Aurora boy was arrested on June 17 on the same charges but is not being identified because he is a juvenile.
Police responded to the shooting at 7:15 p.m. on May 21 and found two people with gunshot wounds. Ernesto Jae Sandoval, 18, of Wheat Ridge was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. The second victim, a 17-year-old Denver boy, had injuries that were not life-threatening and is expected to recover.
Romero is in custody on a $300,000 bail, court records show. His next court date was not available Saturday.
