A heckler shouted ‘How long have you known about Andrew and Epstein?’ at the King in a rare show of public defiance to the monarchy.
Charles was shaking hands with well-wishers outside Lichfield Cathedral when one of the crowd shouted out a string of questions to mild objections from the crowd on Monday.
The same man shouted out again: ‘Have you asked the police to cover up for Andrew?
One woman turns around angrily and tells him to ‘shut up’.
The protester, believed to be from anti-monarchy group Republic, ends by saying: ‘Should MPs be allowed to debate the royals in the House of Commons?’

He can be seen leaving the crowds of royal fans shortly after.
Graham Smith, chief executive officer of Republic, said: ‘The royals need to be challenged, and if the politicians won’t do the job and the police won’t investigate then more and more members of the public will be asking the tough questions.
‘We want to see broadcasters invite Charles into a studio and ask him the same questions.’
It came as Prince Andrew and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson could soon move out of the Royal Lodge – but on two conditions.
The Prince hasn’t paid rent on the home for 22 years, and after giving up his remaining titles following the publication of Virginia Giuffre’s memoirs, the pressure is on to depart.
Now, it’s been reported that Andrew wants the former home of his nephew and his wife, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – Frogmore Cottage.
A royal insider told The Sun: ‘People have been inside Frogmore Cottage working day and night. Over the weekend the lights were on after dark.
‘And workmen have been coming and going for weeks. It shouldn’t need a lot of work done as Harry and Meghan spent £2.4million on repairs just six years ago and no one has lived there since, apart from the few months Princess Eugenie was there during lockdown.’
But that’s not all – Fergie is reportedly eyeing up Adelaide Cottage, where Prince William and Kate currently live, as they move next month.
Andrew is understood to be reluctant to give up the luxury Royal Lodge as he cannot legally be evicted under the terms of a ‘cast iron’ lease.
Reports on Saturday claim Abu Dhabi’s royal family has offered the prince the use of a grand mansion in the United Arab Emirates, should his position in the UK become ‘untenable’.
Sources told The Sun that Andrew and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who also lives at Royal Lodge, would be ‘afforded every luxury’ if they decide to accept the offer.
Andrew gave up the Duke of York title and other honours last Friday ahead of the publication of Ms Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, following allegations he sexually abused her.
Andrew said the decision was made after a discussion with the King and his immediate and wider family.
‘I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life,’ he said.
‘With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.’
Andrew attempted to draw a line under years of controversy, following allegations he sexually abused Virginia Giuffre, by giving up his dukedom and other honours ahead of the publication of Giuffre’s posthumous memoirs earlier this month.
But the prince, who strenuously denies the allegations, was instead swamped by criticism that has focused on the property he has lived in effectively rent-free since 2003.
