Krypto the Superdog makes a splash — all over an ICE agent — in latest version of Pilsen mural
A mural that was vandalized last month in Pilsen has been restored — this time featuring a new superhero.
The comic-style mural, which first appeared in June, showed Superman punching an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent. Weeks later, vandals defaced the mural on a viaduct at 18th Street and Western Avenue — covering Superman’s image but leaving the ICE agent being punched untouched.
Now, local artist Viril the Mouse has restored the mural — this time replacing Superman with Krypto the Superdog.
Krypto, who is sporting his red cape, is depicted relieving himself on the ICE agent. “Good boy!” reads the tag next to the dog.

The mural was defaced shortly after another mural a few blocks away in Pilsen, at 16th Street and Ashland Avenue, was vandalized. That mural depicts a Mexican man and a Palestinian man resting peacefully in a field.
The vandalism suspect, identified as Danielle Wasserman, painted the word “Israel” over the mural, burned off the face of the Palestinian man, and smeared feces on the wall and nearby sidewalk.
Wasserman was arrested last week and charged with two hate-crime counts, four counts of aggravated battery and criminal damage to property.
