L.A. City Councilmember Monica Rodriguez opens renovated Verdugo Hills Pool
Los Angeles City Councilmember Monica Rodriguez hosted the re-opening of the historic Verdugo Hills Pool in Sylmar, built in 1951 and designed by prominent African American modernist architect James H. Garrott. After years of use, the pool began to show its age and was closed in 2018.
“After years of closure,” Rodriguez said in a prepared statement, “I am proud to deliver on a promise made to the community over 20 years ago and to invite everyone to the beautifully refreshed grand re-opening of the Verdugo Hills Pool.”
