As usual, the funk band War will kick off LA County Fair’s concert series this year.
The fair will open Friday, May 2 at the Fairplex in Pomona and run through Memorial Day, Monday, May 26.
War is marking the 50th anniversary of its 1975 album “Why Can’t We Be Friends?,” which included the title song and the Billboard hit “Low Rider.”
The series will close with the norteña group Los Huracanes Del Norte on Sunday, May 25.
Concerts are usually held at the Fairplex’s 8,000-seat grandstand. But the 93-year-old facility is closed for an upcoming major renovation, so this year’s concerts will be moved to The Fields, also called the north field, according to a news release.
Concert tickets include fair admission but are a separate purchase from TicketMaster, according tothe fair’s website.
