LA Daily News boys basketball Top 12 rankings, Dec. 9

The Daily News boys basketball Top 12 rankings as of December 9, 2025:

1. Sierra Canyon (5-1): The Trailblazers suffered their first loss of the season to Bishop McNamara of Maryland in a showcase. Big game against Crean Lutheran coming on Dec. 20 at home.

2. Notre Dame (5-2): The Knights are depending on NaVorro Bowman Jr. to score each night. Most of the time, it works, but against high-level teams, it will make things more challenging.

3. Harvard-Westlake (7-1): Joe Sterling is heating up. He scored 36 points with seven 3s in the Wolverines’ last win.

4. Village Christian (6-1): The Crusaders’ only loss is to an out-of-state team. Freshman Will Conroy Jr. has been fantastic.

5. Crespi (5-2): The Celts lost to Village Christian at the buzzer, but bounced back with a quality win over a very good JSerra team.

6. Chaminade (9-0): The Eagles are rolling early. But are they peaking too early? Time will tell.

7. St. Francis (6-2): The Golden Knights went 2-0 in a tournament in San Jose.

8. Alemany (7-1): The Warriors lost to Brentwood 71-68 in a Rose City Round Ball Classic final at Maranatha. Freshman Austin Acy has been the team’s best player.

9. Knight (6-2): The Hawks are likely to win the Golden League. Playing in the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas just before Christmas will be great for this team that’s looking to make noise in the postseason.

10. Legacy Christian (3-4): This team will be dangerous in the playoffs. The tough schedule is preparing it for a nice mid-division postseason run.

11. Thousand Oaks (5-0): The Lancers are unbeaten, but have yet to play a truly challenging opponent.

12. Valencia (7-2): Two good tests this week: Saugus on Tuesday night, Harvard-Westlake on Thursday night.
