LA Daily News Top 10 football rankings for Week 4

Saugus joins the Top 10 for the first time after a nice 4-0 start under longtime coach Jason Bornn. Notre Dame, despite a loss, moves up after showing it can compete with a Trinity League program. Westlake and Thousand Oaks are still unbeaten under first-year head coaches.

1. Sierra Canyon (4-0): The Trailblazers notch their fourth blowout win in a row, beating previously unbeaten Downey 49-7. Next: vs. Orange Lutheran at Orange Coast College, Thursday

2. Notre Dame (2-2): The Knights took a 13-0 lead over Servite before falling 29-23. Chaminade lost to Servite the week before 46-3. Next: BYE

3. Valencia (3-1): Vikings earned a win over Paraclete. Next: at West Ranch

4. Saugus (4-0): Centurions roll over Hueneme, 46-0. QB Jake Nuttall has thrown seven TDs in four games. Next: at Hart

5. Westlake (4-0): The turnaround in Westlake under new coach Rick Clausen is remarkable. Running back Demanie Bell has 549 rushing yards and six TDs this season. Next: at Venice

6. Thousand Oaks (4-0): Lancers rout West Ranch 49-15. QB Jackson Taylor threw five TDs.  Next: at Simi Valley

7. Newbury Park (2-2): The Panthers fall to St. Pius 46-41. Newbury Park will be OK after its transfers get eligible. Next: BYE

8. Chaminade (1-3): Eagles started the season strong with a win over Oak Christian, but have dropped three straight since, including Friday’s loss at home to Beaumont. Next: vs. Cathedral

9. Oaks Christian (1-3): The Lions are experiencing the worst season in program history after another thumping, most recently to Santa Margarita 44-14. Next: at Gardena Serra

10. Agoura (2-2): The Chargers get a much-needed win over Calabasas, 31-17. Gavin Gray threw for 293 yards and two TDs in the win. Next: at Buena
