Lamar Jackson’s resume ‘speaks for itself,’ and the Bears will be prepared

The Bears prepared all week to face Lamar Jackson on Sunday.

The Ravens quarterback being listed as questionable Friday didn’t change any of that.

Jackson was a full participant in practice Friday but was ruled questionable with a hamstring injury that cost him the previous two games. The Ravens could wait until 90 minutes before kickoff to make his return official — or they could be practicing old-fashioned gamesmanship. Either way, the Bears prioritized Jackson over his backup, Tyler Huntley.

“I think it speaks for itself, as far as his ability in the passing game and his ability in the running game … ” linebacker Tremaine Edmunds said Friday. “We just have to do a good job with our eyes and a good job with our fundamentals and just have an awareness of how the offense is trying to attack us.”

The Ravens offense is “a lot more dynamic” with the two-time MVP than without him, nose tackle Andrew Billings said. The Ravens run more read option plays and planned quarterback runs with Jackson, who is the most prolific rushing quarterback in NFL history.

Jackson has never faced the Bears — he was sick in their only matchup — but Billings faced the Ravens quarterback four times in his career. He joked that he was skinny guy who runs hard.

“It’s the same as always — push that pocket but keep my eyes open, keep my hands free …” he said. “It’s a lot to worry about. But it comes down to discipline, it really does.”
