One person was killed, another injured and a third fled the scene following a two-vehicle wreck on the inbound Dan Ryan Expressway Friday morning on the South Side.
At about 11 a.m., the expressway lanes were back to normal after inbound lanes in the area of the crash were shuttered.
State troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash around 5:50 a.m. on the Dan Ryan near Marquette Road and found a person who was ejected from one of the vehicles, Illinois state police said.
The person was pronounced dead and another was taken to an area hospital with various injuries, state police said.
One occupant of one of the vehicles fled the scene, authorities said.
No further information was immediately available.
