An argument between two men that turned physical led to Los Angeles Police Department officers fatally shooting a suspect in the Hyde Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles, police said Friday.
The shooting was reported at 6:20 p.m. Thursday at Hyde Park and Crenshaw boulevards, where Gang Enforcement Detail Unit officers saw two men arguing. When the officers went to investigate the confrontation, one suspect fired several shots, LAPD Officer David Cuellar told City News Service.
The LAPD officers returned fire, striking the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

It was not immediately clear if the suspect was shooting at the officers or the man with whom he was arguing, Cuellar said.
