Leads dry up in north Aurora shooting that killed 2, police say

Investigators are out of leads in a 2023 north Aurora shooting that left two men dead in an alleyway and are asking for the community’s help, police officials said this week.

Aurora residents Omar Williams, 25, and Kejuan Mays, 27, were killed in a shooting and left in an alleyway between Fulton and Galena streets north of East 22nd Avenue on Aug. 19, 2023.

Williams and Mays were out with friends in downtown Denver before the shooting, and police saw Williams’ vehicle on a surveillance camera downtown at around 2 a.m. and say the shooting likely happened a short time later.

Witnesses who spoke to police did not report any problems among the group, and investigators believe the suspect disposed of Williams’ and Mays’ bodies in the alley and then drove Williams’ Dodge Journey from the scene.

The SUV was found abandoned on Oct. 13, 2023, near East Alameda Parkway and South Kittredge Street.

“There have been no tips in the investigation and all investigative leads generated to date have been exhausted,” Aurora police said in a news release Tuesday. “Major Crime Homicide Unit detectives are asking for the community’s help with any information to help further the investigation.”

Anyone with information about the cold case can contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
