The League of Women Voters of Cupertino-Sunnyvale is hosting an online coffee hour on Thursday, May 15, 11 a.m.-noon, with Sunnyvale Mayor Larry Klein, who will share his vision of the city’s future.

The League of Women Voters of Cupertino-Sunnyvale is holding its annual membership meeting Saturday, May 17, 10 a.m.-noon, at the Grand Hotel, 865 W. El Camino Real in Sunnyvale.

The meeting is an opportunity for members to get updated on the league’s activities in the past year and help determine the group’s direction by reaffirming or amending its previously adopted positions and proposing bylaw changes. The league will also review its past budget performance and approve its proposed budget for the next two years.

Angel Island tour

Bay Area Older Adults is hosting a day trip to Angel Island on Thursday, May 15, 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Participants will catch the bus in Cupertino before taking a ferry boat ride to Angel island, the Ellis Island of the West, for an easy 4-mile walk around the island, which is famous for having the best views of the Bay Area. The walking tour will make stops at the Immigration Station Hospital, Fort McDowell, Quarry Beach and the visitor center. Participants will learn about the Huimen tribe, Spanish explorers, World War I and II military history, as well as Chinese and other immigrants who passed through during the 1883 Chinese Exclusion Act.
