Lego display collapses and injures 10 arcade guests

A Lego display at an arcade fell and injured 10 guests at family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration.

Employees at In the Game on Lowell Street in Peabody, Massachusetts, were conducting a ball drop at noon on Tuesday when the display took a tumble.

A video obtained by NBC10 Boston shows a crowd including children standing under colorful balloons in a net. As he balloons are released, a gray display piece falls down along with it. People can be heard screaming.

The balloons tipped over the display, which dropped around 12 feet onto spectators, said Peabody fire Chief John Dowling.

All 10 people suffered minor injuries, according to the chief. Eight of them were transported to nearby hospitals while two refused to be taken.

It was not immediately known if any of them where children.

Several ambulances were parked outside the arcade and people were taken out on stretchers, clips from WHDH showed.

The event was billed as a Happy Noon Years occasion and was sold out online.
