Several people have been injured after a car crashed into a crowd of Liverpool fans during a Premier League trophy parade.
The driver, a 53-year-old white British man, was arrested at the scene after the vehicle drove into people lining Water Street to celebrate the club’s title win.
The collision happened at around 6pm following an afternoon of celebrations as players from the club travelled around in an open top bus.
Footage shows several police officers near the car before it speeds into the crowd, indiscriminately driving at people.
One man can be seen carried on the bumper for several yards before he falls to the floor. The car then continues driving into dozens more people and appears to drag some along the ground.
After it eventually comes to a stop, an angry crowd descends on the vehicle, hitting the windows while others can be heard shouting ‘kill him, f**king kill him.
The North West Ambulance Service said they were on the scene but could not give details on the exact number of people injured or the nature of their injuries.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is being kept updated and thanked police and emergency crews for their swift response.
He said: ‘The scenes in Liverpool are appalling – my thoughts are with all those injured or affected.’
