The Loyola men’s basketball team will wear uniform patches honoring chaplain Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt.
Sister Jean died on Oct. 9 at age 106.
The team announced its plan to honor Sister Jean in a social media post on Tuesday.
Sister Jean — and her maroon and gold scarf — became the face of the Ramblers basketball program during their Cinderella run to the 2018 NCAA Final Four. She was 98 at the time.
“I may be an old nun, but I know my hoops,” she wrote in her 2023 memoir “Wake Up with Purpose!: What I’ve Learned in My First Hundred Years.”
The Ramblers’ season opens on Monday against Cleveland State at Gentile Arena.
